Promoting the Arts in Southwest Montana
Reception
On Saturday, June 1st, Tendoy Fine art will feature leather and clay artist, H.A. Clemmer at a reception from 1 pm to 4 pm at the gallery at 35 East Bannack St. in Dillon, MT. Refreshments will be served and this will be an opportunity to visit with the artist.
Clemmer’s interest in leatherwork was sparked when she first rode a custom-built saddle at a friend’s ranch. Being an inveterate horse owner and realizing she couldn’t afford a custom saddle, Clemmer gathered up the materials and built her own. After completing 6 saddles, Clemmer focused on the art of tooling.
Her precise and elegant pen and ink drawings are combined with the more humble utilitarian leather which is tooled to bring out depth and richness, adding a 3D feel. “My pieces represent memories, moments captured, and glimpses into the lives of animals that surround us, if we take the time to see them,” explains Clemmer.
