Corby James Homecoming Show
Tendoy Fine Art is excited to present a special exhibit of underwater photography “Artistry in the Depths” from July 14th through the 24th. A reception to honor the artist, Corby James, is open to the public July 15th from 5 to 7 pm at the gallery, 35 East Bannack, in Dillon, Mt. James will be presenting a gallery talk about his adventures diving and photographing underwater. Tendoy Fine Art Gallery will be practicing social distancing and other measures to protect the health safety of participants.
James received his first camera at age 11 and says he was hooked. Growing up in Horse Prairie Valley, he spent his childhood shooting the natural beauty of the family ranch. As a pre-teen, he was so excited about photography that he tried to talk his parents into letting him run off to become a rodeo photographer. Later, as an adult, he learned to dive and became a dive master. Photographing underwater became a chance to capture images in a whole new dimension with several new skill sets. Subjects are constantly moving underwater, and light and color disappear very quickly. In addition, cameras and strobes do not mix well with salt water and pressure, so new equipment was needed.
Based out of Austin, Texas, James has a busy career as a computer consultant, but his passion has remained photography, a passion that requires constant learning and seeking new challenges. Tendoy Fine Art is excited to bring Corby and his photographs home for this show.
